Crown Bioscience

Crown Bioscience is a contract research organisation for drug discovery, best known for oncology models and also working in cardiovascular and metabolic disease, with sites across the United States, Europe, China and Taiwan. It has changed hands twice. JSR Corporation agreed to buy it in December 2017 for about $400m, its largest life sciences investment at the time, completing in 2018. In November 2025 JSR Life Sciences agreed to transfer it to Adicon Holdings, a Carlyle-backed Chinese clinical laboratory group, for $204m - $120m upfront with $40m and $44m contingent on conditions.
